1. Why should I give to Bethesda Health Clinic?

The patients seen at the Bethesda Health Clinic are “the working uninsured” of Smith County and are not eligible for any form of government or private assistance programs. Although these people all have jobs, they are unable to afford health insurance with the wages they are paid. Bethesda Health Clinic provides the working uninsured of Smith County a dignified option to receive high quality health care , with a cost for the services set according to what they can afford. The money you give makes it possible for us to provide the vast array of services offered to our patients by making up the difference between what they can afford and the cost of the services.

2. I can only make a small gift… will it matter?

Yes! There is no donation too small! A large majority of our donors give less than $100 per year, yet these donations collectively make up a significant part of our annual contributions. It takes a large number of people making donations for a project of this magnitude grow and prosper. We gratefully will accept any contribution you can make, regardless of the size.

3. How do I make a Memorial Gift or Honorarium?

You can arrange to make a memorial gift to the Bethesda Health Clinic by contacting Ann Kimbrough at the clinic or by sending in a donation with a note stating who the memorial gift is for.

4. Is my gift tax deductible?

Yes! All gifts to the Bethesda Health Clinic are tax deductible. Our clinic is legally classified as an independent 501 (C) (3), which means that your contribution is tax deductible. The clinic will send a letter to each donor, acknowledging the donation. This letter is the proof you use for your tax deduction.

5. Will any part of my gift be used for administrative overhead?

Yes, your gift may be used for administrative overhead, although we try to minimize this, thanks to the dedicated efforts of our volunteers . Approximately a percentage of the operating budget is used for administration. However, when taking the total in-kind gift amount into the budget, this only account for a percentage. We work hard at the clinic to keep this percentage as low as possible thanks to the efforts of our dedicated volunteers.

6. How can I take advantage of my employer’s gift matching policy?

Start by contacting your human resources department and let them know what you want to do. They will give you the steps to follow in order to ensure that your company makes a matching gift.

7. What are your donor protection policies?

8. What opportunities are there for donor recognition?

There are several ways the clinic recognizes its donors:
- B-day society: For a gift of $100 a month or $1200 a year, or donated time of 10 hours a month a person is recognized with a sign on the wall and a special note is sent on their birthday.
- Businesses or foundations that contribute over $1000 a year will be recognized in a special section of the lobby of the clinic. This is updated yearly.
- Dr. Luke Society: For a gift of $25,000, given over a 3-5 year span, the donor has the privilege of designating a physician to be recognized at a special dinner in their honor. In addition to joining the physician for this dinner, the donor is honored in the Angels in the pool plaque in the main lobby.
- For a gift of $10,000 in any one year, an individual or group will have the opportunity of naming one of the 10 exam rooms in the clinic.
