The Doctor Luke Society

In 2004, Bethesda Clinic created The Dr. Luke Society to honor physicians who had demonstrated a loving and caring spirit that reached out to those in our community who could not afford adequate medical care. Honorees are chosen because they reflect the characteristics of Luke who was referred to by the Apostle Paul, in Colossians 4:14, as the "beloved physician." Luke's writings reflect his commitment to respect all people; his concern for the poor, and his hope for God's mercy and forgiveness for all.

Sponsorship donations of $25,000 are received from individuals, family members, hospitals, clinics, foundations and businesses to support the Dr. Luke Society. These endowments help to fund Bethesda Health Clinic's operations and facilities. Donors are recognized individually in several ways, including the addition of their name to the clinic's beautiful "Angels in the Pool" plaque.
