Who We Are

Bethesda Health Clinic is the culmination of the faith, perseverance, focus and drive of many hundreds of people in the Tyler area, whose vision of a better world begins by serving their less fortunate neighbors in Smith County. Spearheaded by the First Baptist Church of Tyler from a seed of faith, Bethesda is very generously supported by more than a dozen major business partners who contribute selflessly to the needs of the clinic with products, professional medical services, medical supplies and in kind donations. At the heart of the Clinic is the tremendous individual volunteer support, comprised of 180 volunteer doctors, 140 volunteer nurses and 250 other volunteers who contribute to virtually all aspects of the clinic’s ongoing needs. The broad support extended to Bethesda Health Clinic by the Tyler and Smith County community has been exceptional, validating the original vision and reflecting warmly upon the countless generous contributors to the creation, growth and mission of the Clinic.

Bethesda Health Clinic was conceived with a mission to provide health services to the working uninsured of Smith County, whose only access to health care had historically been through the Emergency Rooms of local hospitals. The clinic is a state of the art facility with computers in every examining room running the latest in electronic medical records software, which allows the examining physician to pull up all relevant patient records immediately. By delivering high quality health care to the working uninsured, Bethesda Health Clinic is able to relieve some of the burden on local Emergency Rooms, while at the same time providing care to a significant, yet neglected segment of our population in a professional and dignified environment.

Bethesda Health Clinic is not just bricks and mortar housing a medical facility. It is a beacon of hope burning brightly for those in need, fueled by donors, volunteers and supporters with faith in a vision of a better world.
